Eurail Reservation

Paris-Venice-Rome-Florence Train Ride?
Can anyone suggest how to get train tickets between paris-venice-florence-Rome as I am planning to visit these places from april 8th to April 19th? Should I get eurail pass? I believe I have to pay for some reservation or something
You can book most of this through the Italian train website; the English interface is here: http://www.ferroviedellostato.it/cms/v/index.jsp?vgnextoid=3fdbe14114bc9110VgnVCM10000080a3e90aRCRD
For the Paris to Venice leg, you might want to use the French train website. There are several options for trains, but I would recommend taking the night train from Paris Bercy station to Venice. It’s a direct train that leaves Paris at 8:33 pm and arrives in Venice at 9:34 the next morning. I live close to Venice and use the night trains to visit Paris for the weekend sometimes. An advantage is that you don’t have to have a hotel for that night. A berth in a six bed compartment is 75 euro at the GO price, 55 euro at the MOOVE price, or 35 euro if there are tickets left at the SMART price (right now there are some in your date range).
Florence is between Rome and Venice. I would stop there on the way to Rome, but Rome to Florence isn’t all that long on the fast trains. You can use the Trenitalia site to check specific schedules and prices.
You’ll be able to do this cheaper if you buy individual point-to-point tickets for your trip – especially if you book early enough to get the SMART fare on the PAris to Venice leg. While you’re here in Italy, there’s a discounted Amica fare available on the faster trains if you buy the ticket at least one day in advance. With the Eurail pass, you would have to pay extra for the fast trains; only the regional trains are hop-on, hop-off with the pass. If you get the Smart fare on the Paris to Venice train and the Amica fare on the fastest trains between Venice & Rome and Rome & Florence the total would be 108.80 euro. The cheapest France – Italy Eurail pass would cost 172 euro (if you’re younger than 26) plus the supplements for the faster trains. The supplement for the fast AV trains here in Italy is 20 euro per train. I’m not sure how much the supplement would be for the night train in a berth. A seat from Paris to Milan is 10 euro extra; the berth would be more.
