Italy Rail Ticket

Train Travel in Italy – Trenitalia question?
I know you can buy rail passes in advance that will give you unlimited use for a number days. I also know that you can buy a special ticket in person at the station (for example, a ticket from Florence to Genoa). My question is, can you buy a pass (for 2 or 3 days) that gives you unlimited access in person at the station? Or you should buy these passes in advance? Thanks.
You can buy a pass directly in person at the station in Italy, but only in large cities (eg Rome, Milan and Naples). Any additional information you need is here: Have fun in Italy http://www.trenitalia.com/en/promozioni_offerte/promozioni_internazionali/trenitalia_pass.html!
